A year of change — Punk, Disco, A Clockwork Orange, Kraftwerk, Decimalisation. Bold type. Bright colour.

Visually, the piece draws from the bold minimalism of the era — inspired by Bella Freud’s “1970” jumper and the horizontal lined layouts of 1970s Penguin book covers.

The series is limited to 9 variations, a nod to both the sum of 1 + 9 + 7 + 1 and my own connection to the number 9, which has always been lucky to me.

Each edition captures a different facet of 1971 — a year that still resonates in sound, style, and spirit.
